Researching and writing at University

Researching and writing at university is an independent process. You will need to take responsibility for selecting and finding your own material to read, this may take time to get used to but should become an exciting and rewarding process.

Your modules may have an online reading list. You will find a link to your online list in your module areas in Blackboard.

To find out more ask your tutor.

Understanding the tools available to you and the conventions you need to abide by will help to take the mystery out of researching and writing assignments.

The sections below outline the main stages of academic research and writing and offer advice and strategies on each.
